Ronald McDonald House ^® is the cornerstone project of Ronald McDonald House Charities ^®. Asia’s first Ronald McDonald House opened in September 1996 in Shatin, Hong Kong and has helped more than 1,000 families locally. The Ronald McDonald House is a short term residential facility where seriously ill children and their families can reside while their children receive medical treatment.

When the children are being taken care of in the hospital, the families can stay in a Ronald McDonald House nearby, where they will have a secure and stable environment for rest and food, while also able to be supportive and take care of each other and the child during this stressful time.

Children who recuperate at the Ronald McDonald House are mainly affected by serious illnesses, such as trauma and post operation recovery from: Blood cancer, Brain tumor, Burns, Lymphoma and Bone marrow transplant. Your monthly donations can help sick children and their families carry out a short term residential home and could offers facilities for family activities, entertainment and rest. Facilities include: No. of bedrooms: 23 (including an Isolation Suite which is critical for children who have undergone bone marrow transplants) Bedroom facilities: Separate bathroom and air conditioning suitable for a four person family Communal facilities: Kitchen, Laundry room, Library, Play area, The Terrace, Dining area, Arts and Crafts Area, Family Lounge, Internet Stations and Outdoor playground.
